Our vision

Our vision is rooted in the idea that everyone deserves another chance, as well as access to resources that are focused on rediscovering fulfillment in life. By generating public awareness and raising funds for Maison Jean Lapointe, the Fondation strives for a future without addictions, where solidarity and compassion guide our every action.

Our history

Jean Lapointe

He made us laugh, he brought us to tears, and he made us think and reflect, often. His story and his struggle against alcohol addiction made the rounds in Quebec. He was a role model and an inspiration for those who were struggling to fight and overcome their addictions. He was our quiet strength, the one who brought us together and united us in this important battle. Deceased in 2022, Jean Lapointe remains with us, thanks to his legacy.

The Foundation

It was in 1982 that Fondation Jean Lapointe saw the light of day. Maison Jean Lapointe was contending with promotional and financial issues, when the Fondation was created to help with financing the Maison and to increase its awareness in Quebec.

Gradually coming to realize the importance of investing in prevention, so that the problems associated with addictions not affect future generations, the Fondation embarks on an important turning point in its history. In 2008, Fondation Jean Lapointe makes the decision to dedicate its efforts – and an important portion of the funds it raises – to the prevention of problems associated with the use of alcohol, cannabis and other drugs among youth, in school environments.

Responding to new realities, Maison Jean Lapointe is the first organization of its kind to add addiction prevention workshops focused on addiction to screens (hyper connectivity) to its service offering, in schools as of 2015.

From the Fondation Jean Lapointe emerges the Jean Lapointe Telethon, Jean Lapointe teen centres, the 28-days without alcohol Challenge and innumerable projects and activities that it sustains, now for over 40 years.
